MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide first described in 2015. Unlike most peptides, its code sits in the DNA of the mitochondria, the cell's energy centres, rather than in the cell nucleus.
That unusual origin has made MOTS-c a focus of research into how mitochondria signal to the rest of the cell. Preclinical studies have explored it in models of metabolism, glucose handling and exercise physiology. Each Monark vial contains 10mg of lyophilized peptide, tested by an independent laboratory.
Every batch is tested for purity by an independent laboratory, and the results are recorded on a certificate of analysis (COA).
Request the COA for this productSupplied as lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed vial. Keep sealed vials cool, dry and away from light, and handle using standard laboratory practice. Our free Ultimate Peptide Guide covers storage and record-keeping in detail.
All Monark products are sold for laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

The peptide
Mitochondria carry their own small set of DNA. MOTS-c is a short peptide encoded within it, in a gene region called 12S rRNA, which is where its name comes from.
It belongs to a newer family of so-called mitochondrial-derived peptides, studied for how mitochondria may communicate with the rest of the cell.
