Description
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide, a chain of seven amino acids. It's built on a short fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4–7) with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail added, which makes it more stable than the original fragment.
It was developed in Russia in the 1980s and has since been explored in laboratory research on cognition, neuroprotection and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) signalling. Each Monark vial contains 10mg of lyophilized peptide, tested by an independent laboratory.

The peptide
What is Semax?
Semax starts from ACTH 4–7, a short piece of a natural hormone, and adds three amino acids (Pro-Gly-Pro) that help protect it from breaking down quickly.
Unlike full ACTH, it isn't studied for hormonal effects. Research focuses instead on its activity in the brain, including its links to neurotrophic factors such as BDNF.
